Lifestyle talk with Emily from Naked Beans
Dear Emily, thank you for being here today. As the creator of Naked Beans, can you tell us a little bit more about why you started your brand and what your philosophy is towards your business?
I have had sensitive skin since birth. Growing up I guess I just accepted that I would always have bad skin, but started to look into more natural products and solutions for skin care some years ago. I started making my own coffee scrubs and was so excited and happy to finally have something that was healthy and happy for my body. The line of products has since grown, but everything we produce has a coffee element to it and we'll only use all natural ingredients. Everything is handmade and we make use of unwanted coffee by tapping into the surprisingly wasteful coffee bean lifecycle - sustainable and ethical business are very important in everything we do.
We had the pleasure to try out some of your creations, and we are totally addicted to your “Wake me Up” scrub. But let’s here from you, if you were left in the woods with only one of your products, which product would you pick and why?
Wake Me Up is actually my favourite scrub too. But I also love the Naked Face Mask - when I finally got the recipe right that way I wanted it, I was so happy I couldn't stop touching my face after using it because my skin was so soft :)
Here at our Nabalo headquarters we are deeply connected to Nature, she is the source of our creativity, our muse! How do you get your creative juices flowing?
Feeling connected with Nature is definitely a big source of creativity and I am sure to make that a priority in my life. Singing and dancing and feeling free around my office also helps - you'll often find me belting out a tune or two while I'm working.
Our mornings are sacred to us, we try to start each day with nourishment and self care. What can’t you start you morning without?
Coffee (of course) and yoga. If I don't start my day with yoga (or coffee) then everything is messy for the rest of the day. Even just 10 minutes in the morning makes all the difference.
What are you giving the world through your creations?
I hope I am contributing something positive to people's lives by creating products that really work and that are really natural. I hope that I also contribute positively to the environment by doing my small bit to make sure my business is sustainable and causes no harm to nature.
Thank you so much for giving us the chance to getting to know you and your products better, we are grateful that our paths have crossed. If you have to pick five little things that you are grateful for today, what would they be?
It's hard to pinpoint five separate things to be grateful for - I'm grateful for everything. Maybe I sound cliche, but I am grateful for everything in my life, everyday - I love the rollercoaster, the ups and downs and in betweens and count myself as an incredibly lucky human being.
