Tips to make winter cozy, warm and blissful.
Cold mornings, snowy afternoons and early evenings. The second half of winter is always a bit rough for me, my body starts to crave sun, the light and the warmth. But I also know I can’t fight nature and there is beauty and there are lessons in each season for us.
That being said, I definitely need some extra help to make these colder months bearable. Here are some of the things I do to make winter cozy, warm and blissful.
Warm breakfast. This is key for me! Warm oatmeal or congee. Warm smoothies or elixirs. Oven fresh berry crumble or apple with cinnamon. Cinnamon + ghee congee with a warm mushroom tonic for breakfast on snowy days. This helps to fill my stomach, and provide me with the energy to get through the day.
All the fairy lights and candles. Make sure to use beeswax or coconut wax candles and never buy fragrance ones, as they can be really toxic. I like to make my own candles infused with herbs, flowers or essential oils. I hope to bring these to Nabalo Shop this year. The lights and candles help to create a cozy and warm atmosphere when the days are shorter and darker.
Blankets + infra red. I have a ton of wool blankets all over the house and they definitely keep things cozy and warm. I also have an infra red + gemstone mat that provides warmth, far infrared and negative ions. I love using this in my office throughout the day.
Plant medicine. I find so much comfort in plants, in all its forms. I love to warm my hands on a warm cup of herbal tea and I diffuse essential oils like cinnamon, orange and jasmine in my home. This helps to make my house smell warm and inviting.
Vitamin D lamp. My body doesn’t convert vitamin d to its active form very well because of a stubborn gene, so supplementing it doesn’t really work for me. It’s sunlight or the vitamin d lamp, which I use daily during the winter months. This helps me to keep my energy levels up and my spirits high.
Gratefulness + visualization. I try to take moments throughout the week to write down what I am grateful for in these darker months. This helps me to appreciate the beauty of the season and all its blessings. I also like to visualize the return of the sun and warmth on my skin, as this helps me to find magic in all seasons.
There are a lot of people out there who struggle with the winter months, and I am one of them. I love nature, I love the seasons and I love the cycle of the year, but winter is just not my thing. That's why it's so important to find things that make these months enjoyable, while still embracing the beauty of the season.
So help me out, what are some of the things that you do to make winter cozy, warm and blissful?
