Brownies and self-care: a perfect pair.

When it comes to self-care, everyone has their own routine. But one thing we can all agree on is that indulging in something sweet can be a great way to boost your mood and show yourself some love. And what better treat to indulge in than a rich, chocolatey brownie made with good ingredients?

There's something about the combination of gooey chocolate and fudgy texture that just hits the spot. Whether you're enjoying one as an afternoon pick-me-up or as a post-dinner dessert, brownies are a delicious way to add a little extra sweetness to your day.

Brownies can also be a great way to practice self-care in more intentional ways.

Indulging in something sweet can be a great way to show yourself some love and practice self-care. Chocolate, in particular, has been known to boost mood and reduce stress levels. Baking can also be a form of mindfulness, allowing you to slow down and focus on the present moment.

Brownies are the perfect treat to share with friends or family. Whip up a batch and invite some loved ones over for a cozy night in, or pack them up and bring them to work to share with your coworkers. Not only will you get to enjoy the deliciousness of brownies with others, but you'll also get to bask in the warm glow of making someone else's day a little sweeter.

When it comes to really indulging in a brownie, it's all about slowing down and savoring every bite. Take a moment to really appreciate the aroma of the chocolate before taking a small, intentional bite. Let the flavors and textures wash over you, and pay attention to how the brownie makes you feel. By taking the time to really savor your brownie, you're practicing mindfulness and being present in the moment. So go ahead, treat yourself to a brownie (or two) and savor the sweetness. Remember, taking care of yourself can be delicious!

I love baking brownies from scratch when I have the time, but I also like to have this brownie mix on hand for when I have a late-night craving. Naked Nutrition is known for super clean ingredients so that’s what I usually go with. I also use their grass fed whey powder in my smoothies every morning.

The recipe for these brownies couldn’t be easier :

  • Preheat oven to 350F.

  • Mix 5 servings (265g) to 6-7 fl oz of water and mix thoroughly.

  • Pour batter into an oiled baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.

  • Let cool for 5 minutes and dig in!

If you are wondering why you always feel better after eating chocolate or drinking cacao drinks, chocolate has been found to have an effect on our mood. It contains several compounds that can affect the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, including serotonin and dopamine. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is associated with feelings of happiness and well-being, while dopamine is associated with pleasure and reward. The consumption of chocolate has been found to increase the levels of these neurotransmitters, which can result in feelings of happiness and pleasure. However, it is important to note that the effects of chocolate on mood can vary from person to person and can also be influenced by factors such as the type and amount of chocolate consumed, as well as individual differences in brain chemistry.

In addition to its effects on mood, chocolate has also been found to have potential health benefits. Dark chocolate in particular has been shown to have antioxidant properties and may help to lower blood pressure. While chocolate can provide a temporary mood boost, it is important to address the root causes of any negative emotions. Engaging in physical activity, practicing mindfulness, and seeking support from loved ones are just a few strategies that can help to improve mood and overall well-being.

Love, Iris
