Hormone Boosting Maca Reishi Latte

If you ever put coffee on pause, then you know it can be quite the struggle.

I do this a couple times a year and I always feel my energy rising in the second week. I regain the energy that I normally only have after caffeine and I won’t feel exhausted anymore in the afternoon.

To "survive" my days without coffee I rely heavily on my beloved superfood elixirs. My morning elixir contains cacao and some yummy warming spices but it's the afternoon drink that I really look forward to!

Check out the recipe below, it's a pretty simple but absolutely yummy elixir.

Elixir Recipe

1 tbsp maca powder
1 tsp lucuma powder
1 tsp reishi powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp collagen or gelatin (optional, but recommended)
1 tbsp coconut oil or ghee
stevia or honey to taste
pinch of clove

Blend all the ingredients with two cups of your favourite tea or warm nut milk, pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!

Why Maca, you ask?

Maca Root benefits include increased fertility in both men and women, hormone balance, booster for the immune system, and  increased energy, stamina, improved sexual function, memory, and focus.

Maca is considered an “adaptogen”, a name given to certain herbs, plants, and natural substances that help the body naturally adapt to stressors like a busy schedule, demanding job, or illness, for example.

Another unique fact about maca root is that historically it has been considered a very potent aphrodisiac and a traditional fertility secret of populations living in the Andes.

Consuming maca often makes people feel more “alive”, energetic, and leaves them with a sense of well-being, all of which are thought to be due to its ability to restore proper hormone balance and elevate “feel good” endorphins. Another benefit of maca is its relatively high amount of absorbable plant-based nutrients, including protein, fiber, calcium and magnesium, among others.
