The perfect bedtime drink.

Did you know that your body needs fuel in order to sleep?

It's essential to provide energy to our body in order to promote restorative processes, since lots of healing takes place during the night. Even though our mind is resting and processing, our body is still very active. So for a good sleep I love to drink a hot nourishing drink before I go to bed. This is an ideal way to help keep stress levels low during the night, and to ensure deep rest.

To make sure my body is getting the most out of my bedtime snack, I like to make a warm milk drink with adaptogenic tonic herbs. This helps me to relax and drift off into a peaceful sleep. Herbs and mushrooms that are great for relaxation and deep sleep are Reishi mushroom, Albizia flower, Asparagus root, Spirit poria, Pearl powder, Polygala root, and prepared Rehmannia root. If you don’t feel like busying all of these tonic herbs separately, they can be found in the Shen Blend as well.

  • 1,5 cup of warm raw milk

  • 1 tsp of tonic herbs blend

  • 1 tsp raw honey

  • 1 scoop collagen

  • pinch of sea salt

  • pinch of cinnamon

  • whisked egg yolk (optional but makes is so creamy)

To prepare the drink, I combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until all ingredients are fully combined, pour into a mug and enjoy! I like to sip on this drink for about 20 minutes before bed, to give the herbs and minerals time to work their magic. When I prepare this drink, I always feel a sense of calm and relaxation and I'm able to drift off into a deep, restful sleep. Give it a try, and see what benefits you experience!
