My favorite tonic herbs & mushrooms.

I'm excited to share with you some amazing tonic herbs and mushrooms that have been used for centuries to promote health, vitality, and longevity. These herbs have powerful medicinal properties and are an essential part of many wellness routines. In this blog post, I want to go over some of the tonic herbs that I use, how they work, and how you can incorporate them into your daily routine.

  • Chaga is a medicinal mushroom that's packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting compounds. It's also known for reducing inflammation and promoting healthy skin. This powerful mushroom is believed to support healthy immune function, reduce inflammation, and protect against cellular damage. I love to make chaga tea but also add the extract or tincture to my soup and broth for an extra boost.

  • Reishi is another medicinal mushroom that boosts the immune system. It's also a potent adaptogen, which means that it helps the body adapt to stress and promotes overall well-being. Reishi is believed to support healthy sleep, reduce anxiety and depression, and promote healthy heart function. Reishi has a beautiful earthy taste, and I love adding it to my elixirs or incorporating it into desserts.

  • Cordyceps is an adaptogenic mushroom that is known for its ability to increase energy and endurance. This powerful herb is believed to support healthy lung function, improve athletic performance, and reduce inflammation in the body. Cordyceps is a mushroom I recommend taking in the morning because it can increase your energy, it’s an amazing coffee substitute.

  • Lion's Mane is a medicinal mushroom that supports brain function and cognitive health. It's also believed to promote healthy digestion and reduce inflammation. This powerful mushroom is believed to stimulate the growth of nerve cells, improve memory and concentration, and reduce the risk of cognitive decline. This is one of my all-time fave mushrooms and tastes absolutely amazing.

  • He Shou Wu is a traditional Chinese herb that's been used for centuries to promote longevity and vitality. This herb is believed to support healthy liver and kidney function and is known for its anti-aging properties. It's also believed to support healthy hair growth and reduce the effects of aging on the skin. I add this herb to my coffee every morning but it’s also very tasty when added to some warm milk and honey.

  • Astragalus is a root herb that is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also believed to support healthy heart function and promote overall vitality and it can protect against cellular damage. Astragalus is an amazing herb to strengthen the immune system, the muscular systems and to help support metabolic function. This is a herb I try to consume every single day.

  • Schisandra is a berry that is used in traditional Chinese medicine to promote vitality and longevity. It is also believed to support healthy liver function and promote healthy skin. This powerful herb is believed to reduce stress, improve sleep, and support healthy cellular function. I love starting my day with a tea made with schisandra powder, some lemon juice and raw honey.

  • Ashwagandha is a root herb that is known for its ability to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It is also believed to support healthy immune function and promote overall well-being. This herb is believed to support healthy adrenal function, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve sleep. Ashwagandha is one of those herbs that you either like or really dislike the taste of. I’m the last, so I take this one is capsule form.

Incorporating tonic herbs into your daily routine can be a beautiful act of self-love. There are several ways to make these herbs and mushrooms part of your diet. One popular option is to take them in supplement form, such as capsules or powders. This can be a convenient and easy way to get the benefits of these powerful herbs. I prefer powders over capsules for most herbs because they allow me to create tonic coffees and supercharged elixir drinks. After working with a certain herb or mushroom for a while, I really feel like I am building a connection to their energetic signature. It’s a beautiful process.

Another option is to incorporate tonic herbs into your cooking. Many herbs, such as astragalus and chaga, can be used in cooking to add flavor and nutrition to dishes. For example, astragalus can be added to soups and stews, while chaga can be used to make a delicious and nutritious tea that is really earthy and grounding to the body and soul. Overall, incorporating tonic herbs into your routine can be a great way to support your health and well-being. Whether you're looking to boost your immune system, reduce stress, or promote healthy aging, these powerful herbs can help you achieve your goals. So why not give them a try and see how they can benefit you.

There are many brands out there offering herbs and mushrooms these days, but I only get mine from SuperFeast, I love their sourcing philosophy, Dì Dào 地道, their mission and the people behind this family owned business. I've been using their tonic powders and mushrooms for six years now and I highly recommend them to everyone who truly wants to experience the power of tonic herbs.
